Members of the EFSC are represented in various commissions and committees of the IPU Berlin (e.g. Academic Senate, Study Commission, Research Commission, Structure and Development Commission, International Affairs Commission, Doctoral Advisory Committee).

Since 2016, an international seminar for PhD students and postdocs has been held once a year. The invitation follows a worldwide application process. We report on past and future seminars in the News.

Developed as an alternative form of exchange during the Corona pandemic, the Erich Fromm Study Center organizes an online meeting four times a year to discuss current Fromm research contributions within an international community of researchers. If you are interested in attending the meetings, please contact efsc(at)ipu-berlin.de.

The Erich Fromm Center for Humanistic Ethics, Leadership and Consulting will strengthen the focus on research in the field of work and organizational psychology and contribute to a transfer of Fromm's approach for important and system-relevant issues in society and business. This will bring even more attention to how relevant Fromm's approach is for the practice of leadership and consulting based on humanistic ethics. At the same time, the theoretical development of approaches in this area and the utilization of these approaches by decision-makers will be promoted. The basis for this are publications on the systematic use of Fromm's approach for leadership, consulting and organizational development and the development of practical tools based on this.

The EFSC organizes the International Erich Fromm Research Conferences at the IPU Berlin with speakers from all over the world who relate to Fromm's work. The 1st International Erich Fromm Research Conference took place in June 2014 with 50 Fromm researchers. A second research conference was held in June 2018 with approximately 120 participants and 50 speakers.

As a follow-up to both conferences, the EFSC published a selection of cenference papers. The papers are freely available in the download area. Many audio and video recordings are also available there.

The last International Erich Fromm Research Conference took place in Juni 2023. Videos of some presentations can be found in the media center.

Since 2016, a public Erich Fromm Lecture has been held each fall at IPU Berlin, in which renowned international scholars address the current significance of Erich Fromm's work for their discipline and society. Past speakers have been:

The EFSC is one of six cooperation partners in the Karl Schlecht Foundation's five-year (2018-2022) "Führung+X" initiative. Führung+X is a thematic campaign on Good Leadership, an experiment on the leadership of tomorrow. In an annual call for ideas, five aspects of good leadership that are increasingly in the spotlight are discussed in practical terms from the perspective of leadership researchers and young leaders as well as translated into experiential formats. In this way, supplemented by impulses from other foundation partners, the idea is to stimulate the imagination about what constitutes good leadership and to create a clearer picture of good leadership at the end of the project period.
